Our client is a premier builders' merchant in Ireland, offering a wide range of building materials, plumbing products, and DIY supplies. With a strong nationwide presence, they serve both professional tradespeople and DIY customers, providing top-tier products and expert service. They are now seeking a Heavy Building Materials Supervisor to be based in Cork.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the procurement, stock control, and coordination of heavy building materials.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder materials to maintain adequate supply.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and timely deliveries.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks and resolve any stock discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with the accounts team to ensure smooth processing of invoices and payments.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries and handling complaints.
  • Process orders accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely fulfillment.
  • Assist with preparing quotations and sales proposals, in collaboration with sales reps.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction and resolve any post-sale issues.
  • Oversee a small ledger of accounts and manage billing-related tasks.
  • Maintain accurate transaction records and assist with financial reporting.
  • Support senior management with administrative tasks and report preparation.
  • Ensure the smooth coordination of material deliveries and logistics.
  • Ensure the stock control system is updated and data accuracy is maintained.

 

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within the building materials or construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management and stock control practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers and teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for data management and reporting.
  • Familiar with account management software and financial processes.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the building materials or construction supply industry, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience with quotations, order processing, and customer communication is required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Customer-focused with a problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently or within a team.
