Primary Duties:

  • The EHS Advisor is a core member of the European EHS team, responsible for overseeing EHS activities in the Leixlip/Maynooth site, including but not limited to:
  • Ensure adherence to local regulations for product compliance, environmental safety, and general safety, and manage communications with relevant agencies.
  • Identify health and safety hazards and ensure prompt corrective actions are implemented.
  • Perform regular inspections and risk assessments of facilities, machinery, and equipment, recommending corrective measures.
  • Develop strong working relationships with all internal departments on QHSE matters, ensuring the safety of field personnel at customer sites and managing incident escalations.
  • Support continuous improvement and excellence in all QHSE aspects.
  • Implement training programs on compliance, hazardous material handling, emergency response, hygiene, and safety.
  • Monitor QHSE activities in the region; prepare status reports; analyze key safety performance indicators, compile reports, and present findings to management, emphasizing areas for improvement.
  • Maintain high technical and regulatory knowledge to support QHSE subjects in the Region.
  • Assist in creating and updating emergency response plans to ensure organizational readiness.
  • Foster trust and collaboration within the team and with external contacts, respecting diversity.
  • The QHSE may be required to travel for business needs within the region or internationally (10percent of time at most).

 

Skills and Expertise:

  • Ideally 3+ Years in a similar role
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant diploma (IOSH/NEBOSH/CQA/IMEA) in equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Engineer or similar role in an engineering environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify hazards and develop preventive measures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration and training.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and industry-specific safety management systems.
  • Professional certifications (CSP or ASP) are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication through agreed channels.
  • Works independently with minimal guidance and acts as a subject matter expert, mentoring others.
  • High focus on Safety, Quality, and Compliance standards.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
