Our client, a leading Mechanical contractor, is seeking a Project Director due to ongoing expansion. This role requires a self-starter with strong management skills, capable of managing multiple mechanical contracts, anticipating issues, and developing contingency plans to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple mechanical contracts simultaneously, overseeing planning, budgeting, and scheduling from conception to completion.
- Coordinate with design and engineering teams to ensure projects meet client specifications and are completed on time and within budget.
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Establish and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, and negotiate contracts as needed.
- Manage the financial aspects of each project, including cost control, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, codes, and health and safety regulations.
- Liaise with internal departments to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Support proposal and bid preparations for new projects.
- Implement cost and value procedures and ensure timely and accurate commercial reports are produced.
- Collaborate with directors and site managers to identify risks and recommend strategies to resolve issues.
- Issue monthly progress reports to senior management/directors.
- Work collaboratively with senior management to achieve business goals.
- Foster strong working relationships with internal and external clients.
Candidate Requirements:
- Mechanical background with a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience as a Project Director/Contracts Manager in the Mechanical HVAC industry.
- Experience managing mechanical packages on Life Science or large-scale semi-conductor/Data Centre projects for an M&E contractor is essential.
- Strong knowledge of Mechanical, HVAC, and Process systems, including design, installation, and operation.
- Excellent project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work well under pressure.
- Willingness to travel within Europe as needed.
- Full driving license required.
