Our client, a leading Mechanical engineering contractor, is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to join their team for a prestigious, cutting-edge project in Tralee. This role involves managing and liaising with key project stakeholders, ensuring smooth coordination of design information, procurement, and installation processes.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support engineering requirements by liaising with key stakeholders (client design team, main contractor, suppliers, subcontractors, etc.).
  • Familiarize yourself with Design/IFC specifications and drawings to understand project scope.
  • Contribute to the coordination process, transforming design information into installation drawings by BIM personnel, ensuring spec compliance.
  • Familiarize yourself with the project schedule and ensure engineering activities support the construction build schedule.
  • Create and issue technical submittals and track approvals.
  • Engage vendors for technical support and value engineering solutions.
  • Manage material procurement, including creating material take-offs, identifying lead-in periods, and tracking delivery needs.
  • Track and manage equipment procurement for timely delivery to site.
  • Ensure works are installed in compliance with project specifications and QA plans.
  • Conduct site audits to verify compliance with processes and procedures.
  • Prepare project completion criteria and close-out documents.
  • Prepare sub-contract and supplier tender packages in conjunction with the Project QS.
  • Manage work packs from development to handover.
  • Oversee BIM priorities, such as isometric generation and release.
  • Liaise with clients and prepare reports for directors and other relevant parties.
  • Coordinate with client project management teams to ensure designs meet legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical support to construction teams during the building phase.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience working with a recognized mechanical contractor in process mechanical/pipework.
  • Proficient in Navisworks and engineering database systems.
  • Experience with project/Primavera planning software and CAD/BIM processes.
  • Strong organizational and project planning skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
