Our client is a premier builders' merchant in Ireland, offering a wide range of building materials, plumbing products, and DIY supplies. With a strong nationwide presence, they serve both professional tradespeople and DIY customers, providing top-tier products and expert service. They are now seeking a Inventory Controller to be based in Sligo.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage inbound and outbound stock transactions in accordance with established procedures, ensuring accurate records.
  • Monitor supplier levels and adjust based on demand, seasonality, and other factors.
  • Work to minimize stock holding while maintaining optimal service levels.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and scheduled stock takes to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Department to track and report inventory statistics.
  • Prepare and oversee stock takes, providing training as needed.
  • Handle customer and supplier queries related to deliveries and supplies, coordinating with Credit Control and Accounts Payable.
  • Produce reports on inventory levels, stock loss, and trends in movement.
  • Identify slow-moving or obsolete stock and recommend actions.
  • Collaborate with IT departments to improve inventory control processes.
  • Work with the internal audit team to create efficient methods for maintaining high customer service levels.

 

Requirements

  • Previous experience in stock management, ideally in an inventory control role.
  • Knowledge of hardware, DIY, and plumbing materials.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in IT and inventory management systems.
  • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to foster good working relationships with suppliers, customers, and team members.
