Our client is seeking a dedicated HSEQ Manager to join their team in Claremorris, Co. Mayo, driving excellence in health, safety, environment, and quality standards.

 

Job Overview:

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Manager will oversee and enhance workplace safety initiatives. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs to ensure compliance, minimize risks, and foster a strong safety culture across the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute safety strategies in line with legal requirements and company objectives.
  • Establish and promote a proactive safety culture, setting clear expectations for health and safety practices.
  • Create and manage health, safety, and environmental policies to meet industry standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide expert guidance on health, safety, environment, and quality matters to staff across various sites.
  • Conduct audits and assessments to identify potential hazards, implementing measures to reduce risks.
  • Design and oversee safety training to ensure employees understand their responsibilities and best practices.
  • Analyse workplace incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify adherence to safety standards and legal obligations.
  • Oversee quality, environmental, and occupational health management systems in line with relevant standards.
  • Provide senior leadership with detailed reports on safety performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Set and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans, ensuring preparedness through training and drills.
  • Work closely with internal teams and external agencies to drive safety improvements.
  • Evaluate and manage subcontractor safety documentation, including insurance, safety statements, and method statements.
  • Guide and develop the safety team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Partner with senior leaders, regulatory bodies, and employees to enhance safety initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support workforce well-being.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years in a similar role.
  • Proven experience leading and mentoring a team.
  • Professional safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) are highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Experience in the construction sector is advantageous.

 

Certifications:

  • Manual Handling Instructor certification is desirable.
  • Full, clean driving license required.

  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in safety management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
