Our client is seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee the design process for a significant construction project in Sandyford. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to manage and coordinate complex design aspects effectively.
Role Overview
The Design Manager will be responsible for ensuring seamless coordination between design consultancy teams, on-site trades, and specialist subcontractors. A key focus of this role is optimizing the evolving design to align with client requirements, quality standards, durability, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and implement design management processes to facilitate smooth progression from detailed design to construction.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Design Management Plan.
- Manage design submittals and RFIs, ensuring accuracy before seeking approvals.
- Drive the transition of designs from coordination status to construction-ready status to prevent delays.
- Lead the design team, proactively resolving coordination challenges.
- Define and manage the scope of services for all design disciplines and subcontractors.
- Organize and lead design reviews and coordination meetings, ensuring an integrated design approach.
- Align design development with procurement, construction requirements, and budget considerations.
- Ensure compliance with specifications outlined in work packages and subcontract documents.
- Assist in the compilation of BCAR certification.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction-related field.
- Proven experience in apartment construction projects in Ireland.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of technical and design submittal processes.
- Proficiency in construction/design software such as Procore.
- Skilled in AutoCAD and Revit.
- Strong organizational abilities with a focus on quality and timely project delivery.
- Proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to manage project challenges effectively.
- Ability to critically assess performance, lead teams, and coordinate both internal and external stakeholders.
- In-depth knowledge of EU building regulations and construction technology.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong technical and construction detailing expertise.
- Experience with Revit is an advantage but not essential.
