Our client, a leading global pharmaceutical firm, is seeking a seasoned Strategic Procurement Director to lead their procurement operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, optimizing the supply chain, and ensuring cost-effective procurement of goods and services. This role requires a results-oriented leader with extensive experience in procurement management within the pharmaceutical industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with the client’s business objectives.
- Identify and mitigate procurement risks while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and best practices.
Supplier Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to secure favorable agreements.
- Evaluate supplier performance and implement improvement plans as necessary.
Cost Management:
- Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Monitor and analyze procurement costs, implement cost-saving measures, and drive value engineering initiatives.
- Ensure transparency and accountability in all procurement transactions.
Supply Chain Optimization:
- Collaborate with the operations and logistics teams to ensure a seamless and efficient supply chain.
- Optimize inventory management to balance cost, quality, and availability of materials.
- Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and enhance supply chain performance.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure procurement activities comply with regulatory requirements, GMP standards, and internal policies.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to address potential supply chain disruptions.
- Oversee audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented as needed.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the department.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training needs for team members.
Qualifications:
- Third level qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPSM/CPM certification preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement management within the pharmaceutical industry.
- Proven track record of developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings.
- Strong knowledge of GMP regulations, procurement best practices, and industry standards.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
- Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills.
