Our client, a leading global pharmaceutical firm, is seeking a seasoned Strategic Procurement Director to lead their procurement operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, optimizing the supply chain, and ensuring cost-effective procurement of goods and services. This role requires a results-oriented leader with extensive experience in procurement management within the pharmaceutical industry.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Sourcing Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with the clients business objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate procurement risks while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and internal policies.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and best practices.

 

Supplier Management:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to secure favorable agreements.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and implement improvement plans as necessary.

 

Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Monitor and analyze procurement costs, implement cost-saving measures, and drive value engineering initiatives.
  • Ensure transparency and accountability in all procurement transactions.

 

Supply Chain Optimization:

  • Collaborate with the operations and logistics teams to ensure a seamless and efficient supply chain.
  • Optimize inventory management to balance cost, quality, and availability of materials.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess and enhance supply chain performance.

 

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure procurement activities comply with regulatory requirements, GMP standards, and internal policies.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to address potential supply chain disruptions.
  • Oversee audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented as needed.

 

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the department.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training needs for team members.

 

Qualifications:

  • Third level qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPSM/CPM certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement management within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven track record of developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and driving cost savings.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP regulations, procurement best practices, and industry standards.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in procurement software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills.
