We are currently seeking a highly motivated Service Team Lead to join our client’s team at a Children’s Residential Respite House in Nenagh.
Contract Type: Full Time Permanent
Contract Hours: 39 Hours per week
Salary: Up to €60,000
Overview of Duties & Responsibilities:
The Service Team Lead will lead a dedicated team to deliver high-quality care and support to children with physical, sensory, intellectual disabilities, and autism, in a person-centred environment. This role includes collaborating with management to maintain registration with the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) and working with the Person in Charge (PIC) to manage the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of care. The post holder will also guide staff in the use of positive behavioural approaches for individuals with complex behaviours of concern.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Professional/Clinical:
- Lead, supervise, and support staff in delivering care services.
- Coordinate and review care for children, ensuring it aligns with service standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expertise and leadership in managing behaviours of concern.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, families, and carers in care planning.
- Adjust care plans based on responses to interventions, ensuring collaboration with families and relevant professionals.
- Foster a motivated, high-performing team environment while ensuring dignity and respect for both children and staff.
- Ensure the development and adherence to care standards, protocols, and guidelines.
- Participate in service audits and uphold professional standards related to confidentiality, ethics, and legislation.
- Operate within your scope of practice and seek management guidance when needed.
- Participate in rotational on-call duties and demonstrate effective change management.
Health & Safety:
- Contribute to maintaining a safe environment through risk assessments and managing the risk register.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, infection control, and medication management policies.
- Take appropriate action regarding issues that may affect the care or wellbeing of children.
- Stay informed about relevant regulatory guidelines, such as those from HIQA for disability centres.
Training & Development:
- Identify staff training needs and support their continuous professional development.
- Facilitate and deliver necessary training, ensuring staff competence in clinical tasks such as medication management.
- Monitor and enhance staff performance in providing quality care and support to children.
- Help develop strategies to evolve respite and community support services based on the needs of children.
Personnel/Administrative:
- Lead the implementation of policies and procedures, ensuring efficiency and alignment with client-specific needs.
- Coordinate staff duties, ensuring appropriate resource allocation to meet fluctuating workloads.
- Maintain clinical and administrative records, contributing to quality assurance processes and assisting with data collection for reporting purposes.
Skills/Competencies and Knowledge:
- Ability to promote teamwork and professional relations.
- Experience in service management and quality assurance.
- Strong leadership, professionalism, and communication skills.
- Effective use of IT tools relevant to the role.
- Demonstrate resilience and composure when handling challenges.
Post-Specific Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will have relevant experience working with children with autism, physical and sensory disabilities, and intellectual disabilities in a residential setting.
Essential Criteria:
- Third-level qualification in Nursing, Social Care, Education, or a relevant field
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in a residential setting with individuals with disabilities
- Proven management or staff supervisory experience
- Full clean driver’s license and access to own transport
- Experience working with behaviours of concern
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
Desirable Criteria:
- Management course completed or in progress
- Experience in delivering training
