We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Quantity Surveyor to join our Clients team for a project in Skellefteå, Sweden. This role is with a leading Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Contractor known for delivering complex and large-scale projects across Europe. The project involves the construction and commissioning of a state-of-the-art battery storage facility, a critical component of the region's renewable energy infrastructure. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the mechanical elements of the project are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, manage, and monitor the mechanical work packages, ensuring costs are accurately forecasted and reported.
  • Administer and manage contracts, including the preparation of contract documents, tender reviews, and negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess and measure work done, prepare interim valuations, and manage variations, ensuring all changes are captured and accounted for.
  • Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with mechanical works, ensuring appropriate mitigations are in place.
  • Provide detailed cost reports and forecasts to the project management team, ensuring transparency and clarity in financial tracking.
  • Assist in the procurement process for mechanical subcontractors and materials, ensuring value for money and compliance with project specifications.
  • Work closely with the project management, engineering, and construction teams to ensure alignment and successful delivery of mechanical aspects of the project.
  • Ensure all mechanical work complies with relevant local regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards.
  • Manage the process for final accounts, including negotiating and agreeing on final settlements with contractors and suppliers.

Key Skills:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems within large-scale construction projects, with proven experience in cost management and contract administration.
  • Ability to prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reports with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Extensive experience with various forms of contracts (e.g., NEC, FIDIC) and a solid understanding of contract law related to the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • High level of attention to detail, particularly in preparing and reviewing financial documentation and contracts.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in using relevant QS software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) and general office software (e.g., MS Office Suite).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring project goals are met.
  • Flexibility to adapt to project demands and changing circumstances, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
