Our client, a leading provider in the construction materials industry, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Heavy Building Material Supervisor to join their operations team in the Cork area. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to oversee critical aspects of purchasing, stock management, and customer interaction within the heavy building materials sector. This role involves managing supplier relationships, coordinating inventory, and ensuring seamless communication with both customers and internal stakeholders, all while contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the department.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the procurement and stock control of heavy building materials to ensure optimal inventory levels.
  • Liaise with suppliers to negotiate pricing, manage orders, and track timely delivery of goods.
  • Handle inquiries, process orders, and prepare quotations to maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Work closely with sales representatives to address customer needs, discuss delivery schedules, and ensure satisfaction.
  • Manage a small ledger of customer accounts, ensuring accurate billing, timely payments, and account updates.
  • Oversee the delivery process, ensuring efficient dispatch and on-time arrivals.
  • Maintain accurate transaction records, support senior management with reporting, and ensure system data accuracy.
  • Act as the point of contact for both internal teams and external stakeholders, fostering effective communication and operational efficiency.

 

Key Requirements:

  • 3–5 years in a supervisory or management role within the construction materials or building supply industry.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and account management software.
  • Strong communication skills and experience in managing customer relations, including quotations and order processing.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with heavy building materials, pricing negotiations, and financial reporting.
