Due to continued expansion, our client now requires a Health & Safety Advisor for roles based in Limerick.
The Health & Safety Advisor will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment on all assigned sites while adhering to workplace Health and Safety requirements. The role also involves compliance with Environmental regulations and guidelines across all sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct weekly Site Safety audits (Scoring version) on all assigned sites.
- Advise site management on Health & Safety rules and regulations.
- Coordinate and deliver safety training for site staff.
- Report to the Contracts Manager on a daily basis and to the Environmental Health & Safety Manager as required.
- Carry out risk assessments and assist in developing method statements.
- Hold regular site safety meetings with all subcontractors weekly.
- Oversee subcontractor activities on-site to ensure coordination and safety.
- Monitor health and safety activities on projects and report findings to the Contracts Manager.
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety regulations, and halt operations in cases of dangerous circumstances until immediate corrective measures are taken.
- Identify, reduce, and maintain a register of relevant legislative, regulatory, and policy requirements.
- Assist the Contracts Manager in maintaining the safety management system.
- Keep safety files updated for all assigned sites in compliance with Safe T Cert.
- Ensure all subcontractor documentation (Safety Statements, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, training records, insurance certificates, equipment inspections, etc.) is in place and reviewed before subcontractors commence work.
- Implement and monitor the health and safety management system, ensuring daily completion of site-specific Safe Plan of Action (SPA) forms.
- Conduct induction courses for all new employees upon site entry.
- Attend site management meetings to document safety non-compliance and report to the Contracts Manager.
- Organize and arrange safety training for new employees, including Safe Pass, Manual Handling, and relevant CSCS cards.
- Conduct Safety Focus (Toolbox) Talks weekly and maintain records of attendees.
- Record and investigate all accidents/near misses on-site and share findings with senior management.
- Compile a monthly safety report summarizing all safety activities on-site and distribute it to relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and advise on safe systems of work, ensuring adherence to the company permit-to-work system.
- Review and update company safety documentation as requested by the Environmental Health & Safety Manager.
- Develop Environmental plans pre-commencement for all assigned sites.
- Ensure compliance with all local and national Environmental regulations and planning permission conditions.
- Ensure adherence to ISO 14001 and conduct audits as required under the standard.
Skills and Experience:
- Recognized EHS Degree or Diploma.
- 3-5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Previous experience in main construction is preferred.
- Strong ability to prioritize work requirements and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in IT, including MS Office and database management.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
