​Our client, a leading Civil Engineering company in Ireland, is seeking a highly skilled and strategic Head of Finance to oversee and manage their financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial planning, analysis, budgeting, reporting, and ensuring the overall financial health of the organization. This role requires a seasoned finance professional with a strong background in financial management and a proven track record of leading finance teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the client’s business objectives.

  • Conduct financial analysis, forecasting, and risk management to inform decision-making.

  • Advise the executive team on financial implications and business strategies.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Lead the annual budgeting process, including preparation and presentation of budgets.

  • Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions.

  • Develop and maintain financial models to support strategic initiatives and forecasts.

Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports.

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.

  • Present financial results to the executive team, board of directors, and stakeholders.

Cash Flow and Treasury Management:

  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and investment activities.

  • Optimize capital structure and ensure liquidity to meet the organization’s needs.

  • Develop strategies to enhance cash management and financial stability.

Risk Management and Internal Controls:

  • Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.

  • Identify financial risks and develop mitigation plans.

  • Oversee audits and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the finance department.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training needs for team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership position in the engineering space.

  • Proven track record of managing financial operations, budgeting, and financial reporting.

  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and best practices.

  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
