Our client is seeking a full-time Architect/Engineer with Fire Engineering expertise to join their team based in Charleville, Co. Cork. The successful candidate will contribute fire strategy compliance expertise to projects that provide fire engineering services. This role encompasses all stages of project development, from feasibility studies and long-range planning to full design services, permitting, and construction support.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop fire strategies across diverse projects using relevant codes such as TGD Part B & M, BS9999, BS 5588, and FM/NFPA standards.
  • Prepare and submit Fire Safety Certificates and Disabled Access Certificate applications via BCMS.
  • Offer internal consultancy on building regulation matters for design and contract administration teams.
  • Lead fire strategy discussions with design teams, clients, building control, and fire services.
  • Implement insurer requirements to minimize property damage and business interruption risks.
  • Support BCAR compliance and prepare fire inspection reports during construction.
  • Mentor and train graduates in fire engineering principles and practices.
  • Conduct quality checks on deliverables and participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and vendor bid evaluations.
  • Contribute to proposal generation, including scopes, schedules, and budgets.

 

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Architect/Architectural Technologist with 5+ years’ experience in fire safety and disabled access certification.
  • Degree in fire engineering preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety engineering, building regulations, and experience in fire safety strategy.
  • Familiarity with codes and standards like Part B & M, BS9999, and BS 5588.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel) and desirable experience with REVIT and BIM.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment.
  • Familiar with BCAR and BCMS processes.
